Friends Names Frank Donaghue Chief Executive Officer

Friends of the Orphans is very pleased to announce that Frank Donaghue has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer, effective July 9, 2012. Frank brings over 30 years of fundraising and leadership experience in the nonprofit sector to Friends of the Orphans. Most recently, Frank was CEO of Physicians for Human Rights located in Boston, MA, and Washington D.C. His prior experience included tenure with YMCA Philadelphia & Vicinity as their President and CEO and with After-School All-Stars in Los Angeles, also as President and CEO.

Frank spent almost 20 years with the American Red Cross. His roles for the American Red Cross National Headquarters in Washington, D.C., included Vice President of Development and Executive Vice President for Communications, Marketing & Policy. Frank also served in several positions for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross in Philadelphia, PA, including as Chief Executive Officer, a position that he held for 12 years.

Frank is an accomplished strategist with demonstrated management expertise both domestically and internationally. He has a proven background in growing resources and services and in increasing brand awareness in the many markets where he has worked. Frank holds a BA degree from St. Fidelis College, an MA degree from Seton Hall and an MS degree in Organizational Dynamics from University of Pennsylvania. He has served on several boards of directors, has many community affiliations and has taught at Drexel and Temple universities.

Frank, in accepting this position, stated: “Helping Friends of the Orphans to increase support for the great work of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos children’s homes is a great fit for my personal goals and professional background. I am excited by this opportunity to be of service to disadvantaged children in Latin America, and humbled to join the wonderful Friends and NPH family of dedicated supporters, sponsors, staff and volunteers.”
