John Shinsky at Ciudad
Founded by John Shinsky, Ciudad de los Niños is a permanent home for orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children, and they are not placed for adoption. Instead, they are welcomed with their brothers and sisters and become a part of a stable and secure family. While being raised in the home, they focus on education and personal growth, knowing that a loving support system will always be in place for them. This enables them to grow into caring and productive members of their communities.

Become a sponsorSponsor a Child at Ciudad de los Niños -
Shinsky Orphanage

We are pleased that you are considering being a child “Sponsor” or “Godparent” for one or more of our children at Ciudad de los Niños (Spanish for "City of the Children"). Your sponsorship is one of the most exceptional contributions you can make for our children, because it is a commitment that we can use for a specific child, which will enhance their personal, educational, and spiritual growth. We assure you that your contribution will
maximize your child’s opportunities and that you will receive updates that will establish a
personal relationship between you and your child. Some of the key things you will receive
as a sponsor include the following.

What Sponsors/Godparents Receive

  • A welcome letter from NPH on behalf of Ciudad de los Niños
  • A photo of the child
  • The personal history of the child
  • An annual school progress report
  • Personal letters from the child, in Spanish and translated to English
  • The opportunity to visit the child you sponsor at the home
  • The satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference in a child's life
Cost of Sponsorship
Idividual/Family Sponsorships are as little as $30 per month. Donations will be made to
Friends of the Orphans (Shinsky Orphanage), Federal Tax ID #65-1229309, and are tax
deductible to the extent prohibited by law.

A Quality Organizational Relationship for Sustainability
The support we provide for our children is built on a partnership that is strong and sustainable. In 2009, Friends of the Orphans and Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH,
Spanish for “Our Little Brothers and Sisters”) partnered with Ciudad de los Niños - Shinsky Orphanage
to support orphaned, abandoned and neglected children in need in Matamoros, Mexico.

For more than 40 years, Friends of the Orphans and Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos have worked to end the vicious cycle of poverty by giving safe and loving homes and brighter futures to children in Latin America and the Caribbean. In Latin America alone, millions of children are living on the streets. They sleep on cardboard, beg and scavenge each day to survive. Your contribution to our children is going to change this devastating situation for generations to come.

City of the Children, Friends of the Orphans, and NPH is a strong organizational force that
is committed to the long-term support of these children. We are deeply grateful for your
contributions that continue to allow us to make a difference in the lives of these children
each and every day. You can learn more about each of our organizations by visiting the
