FriendsOfTheOrphans

Our Mission

Friends of the Orphans is dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children through the support of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH, Spanish for "Our Little Brothers and Sisters") network of orphanages in Latin America and the Caribbean.

A 40-year-old nonprofit organization with regional offices in six states, Friends of the Orphans supports the NPH homes and their outreach programs through fundraising and volunteer efforts. Together, we transform the lives of NPH children by creating families for life through values of unconditional love, shared responsibility and education. This enables children to grow into caring and productive members of their communities.

Friends of the Orphans are simply people who refuse to turn their backs on human suffering, and who agree that the weakest among us deserve help from the strongest. In other words, we believe that sharing our time and resources with those who need them the most is the least we can do.

Every day, Friends of the Orphans supports more than 3,600 children in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. Since its founding in 1954, NPH has assisted nearly 16,000 children. In 2009, NPH outreach programs assisted 83,000 children and adults.
