The United Nations estimates that there were 380,000 orphans in Haiti BEFORE the earthquake on January 12, 2010. It is not yet known how many more children have been left with no family to care for them.
With the support of Friends of the Orphans, Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos/Nos Petits Frères et Soeurs (NPH/NPFS, Spanish and French for "Our Little Brothers and Sisters") is working on a plan to address the needs of thousands of children orphaned and/or displaced by the disaster.
We invite you to help provide long-term support to a boy or girl in Haiti by becoming a sponsor. Your friendship will show a child that he or she is loved - your financial support will protect his or her future.
We are offering two ways to sponsor.
Haiti Hope Sponsor Provide hope to a child orphaned or abandoned by the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Friends of the Orphans and NPH are working to identify children who are in need and to bring them hope by integrating them into the NPH family at St. Hélène. This will be a long process as we must first make sure the children do not have families able to care for them. You can help provide hope to these children by becoming a Haiti Hope Sponsor. Your sponsorship will begin with general support for all of the children affected by the Haiti earthquake. As children begin to be integrated into the NPH family, we will match you with your new Godchild at which time you will receive information about your child, a picture and the opportunity to correspond with him/her.
| Like all of the NPH homes, St. Hélène is a permanent home for orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children, and they are not placed for adoption. Instead, they are welcomed with their brothers and sisters and become a part of the stable and secure NPH family. While being raised in the home, they focus on education and personal growth, knowing that a loving support system will always be in place for them. This enables them to grow into caring and productive members of their communities. |
