Friends of the Orphans is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Federal Tax ID #65-1229309. Donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.

There are many ways to support Friends of the Orphans.  Below are examples of ways you can donate. 

DONATE ONLINE
Make a donation to help provide basic needs - food, clothing, shelter, health care and the education to the thousands of children in Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos (NPH), Spanish for Our Little Brothers and Sisters, homes. Give in honor of friends and family and we will send the honoree a personalized card that notifies him or her of the gift (no amount will be mentioned).

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN (CFC)
From September 1 to December 15, 2010, federal employees—civilian, military and postal—will be invited to support eligible national and local nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

Friends of the Orphans is a member of Child Aid International. Our CFC code is 42509. If you are a federal employee and wish to support Friends through the CFC, you will need that code to designate your gift.

MICHIGAN STATE EMPLOYEES CHARITABLE CAMPAIGN (MISECC)
Since it was started in 1987, the MISECC has raised over $38 Million for eligible charities. Friends of the Orphans has been approved to participate in the 2010 campaign, which runs from September 14 to October 16. OUR MISECC code is 3015. If you are a state of Michigan employee and wish to support Friends through the campaign, you will need that code to designate your gift.

MATCHING GIFTS
Many companies match employee donations to nonprofit organizations that their employees support. Some companies even double or triple employee contributions. Ask your employer if they have a matching gift program. If they do not, encourage them to participate.

PLANNED GIVING
Name Friends of the Orphans as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy, make a
bequest, Contingent Bequest or A Payable Upon Death (POD) designation to Friends of the Orphans or make a distribution from a trust fund. 

GIVE APPRECIATED SECURITIES
Donating appreciated securities such as stocks, bonds or shares of mutual funds is easy and provides benefits both to Friends of the Orphans and you.

NPH PROJECTS
Each home at NPH has a list of special projects that involve all aspects of operating the home.  The projects range from obtaining uniforms for school for all the children living at the home to installing water treatment facilities.  You have the chance to donate funds to help complete these specific projects.

IN-KIND GIFTS
Prizes and auction items such as gift certificates and merchandise, and provisions such as food and drink, are always needed for special events. In addition, medical and school supplies as well as clothing, shoes and house wares are periodically collected for shipment to the NPH homes from our Southeast Regional office in Miami, FL. For more information, please e-mail the NPH Home Liasion or call (305) 663-6211.


Sponsor a Child

A sponsor with her GoddaughterYour financial and emotional support will make a world of difference to child at one the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos homes that we support. As sponsor, you will receive a photo of your child, updates on his or her academic and social progress, and personal letters. Click here to learn more about sponsorship.



Volunteer

A volunteer and child at NPH HondurasInternational: Qualified individuals, couples and families support the staff and children living at the NPH homes. Interested persons must go through an application process and an initial screening, and make a minimum of a one-year commitment.





A volunteer at the Upper Midwest officeLocal: Friends of the Orphans relies on volunteers to serve on boards and committess, translate letters, and help with office work and at special events. People who volunteer are students, retirees and everyone in between. Some have scholarship or community service commitments to meet. Others just want to help us support the children of NPH. Needs are on-going. Share your time and skills!
