Notes & News
Irish Hearts for Haiti
We are pleased to announce that the 4th Annual Irish Hearts for Haiti Benefit Dance, which took place on April 7th at the Boston Marriott Quincy, was a huge success! $109,251.41 was raised to support Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos in Haiti. This amount will be
matched by the Flatley Foundation for a total of $218,502.82! 7 new child sponsorships were also secured through the event!
During the event, young and old enjoyed the Irish music, step dancing, Ceilia sets and silent auction. We would like to extend a special thank you to Gerry McGrath, Winnie Henry and the Irish Hearts for Haiti committee for working so tirelessly for several months to put this event on. Billy Jean, a former pequeño at NPH Haiti, spoke about his experiences growing up at the home and the importance his godparents had to him.
Congratulations to our Lucky Winners!

Thank You to our great Friends!!!
We would like to thank the students of Northeast Elementary School, especially the “Ambassadors” in the fifth grade! They raised almost $1,700 for Friends of the Orphans in their March “Change for Change” fundraiser! On April 8th, Billy Jean from NPH Haiti visited the school to thank them in person.
Michelle Southworth Surprise Birthday Party!
Michelle Southworth and her family first became involved with Friends of the Orphans when they began to sponsor Fernando Agustin of NPH Mexico. Fernando Agustin joined NPH Mexico in August of 2011, along with his brother and sister. The children were abandoned by their father, and their mother was unable to meet the needs of her children. In lieu of birthday presents, family and friends donated over $1000 to the healthcare needs of Fernando and the 800 children at the NPH Mexico home in honor of Michelle Southworth who has a passion for healthcare. Thanks to the Flatley Foundation each donation will be matched!
To host an event for Friends of the Orphans, please contact Monica Henry at 617-206-4943 or mhenry@friendsus.org. Each dollar raised in 2013 will be DOUBLED by the Flatley Foundation! Don’t miss this great opportunity to raise money for our children!
